Tasting Notes and Scores
At 14.1% alcohol, the 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru is the most powerful wine in the cellar, offering up aromas of cherries, plums, potpourri, orange rind and spices, followed by a full-bodied, rich and layered palate that's textural and muscular.

The 2022 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has impressive purity and vigor on the nose: black cherries and boysenberry fruit, slightly glossy in style, perhaps a bit of summer sun imparting more opulence. The palate is medium-bodied with blackberry and bilberry fruit and saturated tannins. It’s harmonious, though it needs a little more mineralité toward the finish. There's a soupçon of hedonism and warmth here…there's nothing wrong with that.

70% whole clusters and highest alcohol of the range. Cask sample. Mid ruby. Ripe, intense nose of deepest raspberry coulis. Floral intensity, too. Crisp acidity. On the palate, ripe, rich red and black berries and thick velvety texture over present but powdery tannins. There is a real sense of poise and restraint. Long, profoundly structured. (MH)
