Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Gruenchers was showing particularly well, soaring from the glass with scents of raspberries, red plums and cherries mingled with rose petals and peony. Medium to full-bodied, pure and seamless, this vibrant, refined wine concludes with a long, saline finish.

The 2022 Chambolle-Musigny Les Gruechers 1er Cru, one of the earlier picked Premier Crus, has a pure bouquet with crushed limestone infusing the mainly black fruit. I admire the precision here; there’s much more vigor than the previous vintage and a light slate-like aroma. The palate is medium-bodied with a supple entry, quite sensual as a Chambolle should be. However, compared to the Morey 1er Cru, it does not quite deliver the mineralité and complexity of the best Chambolle Premier Crus I have tasted.

100% whole clusters. Cask sample. Mid ruby. Floral notes above red-cherry fruit. There’s lots of spice, too, from the clusters. This is quite fine and at first discreet but shows real presence and density on the long finish. (MH)
