Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2021 Clos-de-la-Roche Grand Cru comes from five lieux-dits. This was slightly more reduced than the Clos Saint-Denis, dark berry fruit, briary; a faint touch of seaweed emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with finely-sculpted tannins, harmonious and tensile, again, discretely building with a transparent, lightly peppered finish that lingers in the mouth. Excellent.

1.97 hectares (4.87 acres). Les Froichots, Les Fremières, Monts Luisants, Les Chabiots and Clos de la Roche. 70% new oak. Cask sample. Deep-mid ruby. Ah, here is the intensity of fruit: sweet raspberry, black cherry and cassis. There’s much more volume here and the tannins and structure are much better integrated. Excellent length with lots going on. (MH)
