Tasting Notes and Scores

94 RP

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 30/04/2012
The 2009 Echezeaux is another inward wine. With time in the glass, some of the layers of fruit begin to flesh out, showing the depth I sensed when I tasted the wine from barrel. There is plenty of elegance and finesse, although today the 2010 appears to be more promising by a touch. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2039.

My tasting at Dujac was one of the highlights of the two weeks I spent in Burgundy in late November/early December 2011. I tasted through all the 2010s in barrel and 2009s in bottle. The domaine’s 2009s are among the wines of the vintage.

(92-95 pts)
The 2009 Echezeaux (from one of the cooler sites in the vineyard) hovers on the palate in a weightless expression of grace and class. It is impeccably refined from start to finish, with delicate layers of white flowers and sweet spices that add complexity and nuance to the fruit. The wine’s gorgeous inner fragrance and impossibly fine tannins are first-rate. This is another dazzling wine from Dujac. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2034.

An intensely floral, spicy, earthy and ripe nose offers up a densely fruited mix of black pinot fruit, black cherry and cassis aromas. The big-bodied flavors are exceptionally cool and fresh yet the tannins are fully mature as they support and shape the restrained, minerally and impressively persistent finish. While there is excellent volume, at present this doesn't offer quite the same depth and length as the Malconsorts. Drink: 2021+
