Tasting Notes and Scores
Outstanding. Here the fruit is more deeply pitched with excellent nuance to the well-layered blue and black pinot fruit that also evidences hints of violets, earth and wet stone. There is a clean and polished mouth feel (in the best sense) to the energetic and saline-infused flavors that are shaped by ripe tannins on the mouth coating, dusty and balanced finish. As it often is, this is a wine of finesse yet it doesn't lack for character and depth. Drink: 2023+

The 2011 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Combottes comes from the familyâs 1.15-hectare plot and is aged in 75% new oak. Despite the higher level of wood, here it is better assimilated into the fruit concentration and allows the terroir to speak. The palate is nicely balanced with sappy black and red fruit, a gentle grip and a rounded, quite spicy finish with touches of citrus peel on the aftertaste. Drink 2014-2020.
