Robert Parker's Wine Advocate 30/04/2012 The 2009 Vosne-Romanee Les Beaux-Monts is radiant, supple and fleshy from the very first taste. Graphite, tar, minerals, spices and smoke are some of the many notes that take shape as this striking wine opens up in the glass. The Beaux Monts blossoms in every direction as it shows off its inimitable personality and class. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2024. My tasting at Dujac was one of the highlights of the two weeks I spent in Burgundy in late November/early December 2011. I tasted through all the 2010s in barrel and 2009s in bottle. The domaine’s 2009s are among the wines of the vintage. ()

A ripe yet still cool and elegant nose of classic Vosne-style spice notes adds breadth to the black fruit and stone aromas. The naturally sweet and succulent flavors brim with a fine minerality and plenty of mouth coating dry extract that conclude with a dusty, firm and impressively persistent finish. This is terrific and should age effortlessly.

(this was bottled at the end of March due to a late malolactic fermentation): Good deep red-ruby. Wild aromas of raspberry, blood orange and iron, plus a whiff of fresh blood. High-pitched, very primary flavors of red fruits and spicy oak; comes across as a bit musclebound today, but shows terrific energy for the vintage. Finishes firmly tannic, minerally and very long. This wine spent less time in barrel after the secondary fermentation owing to the late malo.

The 2009 Vosne-Romanée Les Beaux-Monts is a dark, powerful wine in the way it sweeps across the palate with substantial depth and richness. Smoke, tar and minerals add complexity on the bracing finish. The Beaux Monts in an inward, implosive wine that will require a measure of patience.

Mid to dark crimson, lively pure cherry juice and nearly finished malolactic. Still a bit lean but promising. (JR)
