Tasting Notes and Scores
Domaine Dujac's 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts is one of the highlights of a superb range, bursting from the glass with aromas of blackberry, cassis, plum, rose petal, licorice and spice. Despite its aromatic flamboyance, on the palate the wine is controlled—even reserved—with immense concentration and a bottomless core, its tannins fine-grained but firm, asserting themselves on the finish. The overriding impression is of depth and substance, but this Malconsorts is clearly shutting down; those with the patience to cellar it for a decade or more will reap the rewards.

Healthy medium red. Superb floral lift to the aromas of dark raspberry and crushed-stone minerality. Larger-scaled and deeper than the Beaux Monts but at the same time showing outstanding sappy pungency and definition to its black raspberry and mineral flavors. Outstanding mineral-driven energy frames and extends the very long, slowly rising finish, which features chewy but fully ripe tannins. A splendid premier cru with grand cru volume and class.

The 2015 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Malconsorts has a very tightly wound bouquet: introspective at first and then gradually unfurling with raspberry and cranberry fruit, slate and wet pavement notes. The palate is medium-bodied with fine structure. This is quite spicy on the entry compared to the Les Beaux Monts with admirable focus, the finish a little "hemmed in" at the moment, although it will flesh out by the time of bottling. This Aux Malconsorts should be reserved for those with the nous to age wine in bottle.
