Graphite, grilled herbs, smoke, ash, game and black fruit flow across the palate in a powerful, explosive Burgundy endowed with marvelous complexity and pure personality. The flavors are vibrant throughout, conveying a sense of energy and vitality that is simply compelling. One of the standouts in this range, the 2012 Mazoyères is shaping up to be truly special.

(vinified with 80% whole clusters): Good bright, dark ruby-red. Less floral and feminine than the Charmes, showing aromas of spices and smoky minerality. Densely packed, chewy and tactile but not overripe, with terrific lift to its crushed stone and pepper flavors. Very broad and long on the aftertaste.
