The 2010 Mazis-Chambertin is like candy. It boasts the silkiest, most elegant of tannins in support of expressive red fruit. Floral notes develop later, adding considerable lift and brightness. The 2010 Mazis-Chambertin Grand Cru is deep in color. It has a rather rumbunctious peppermint-tinged nose with dense black fruit, what feels like slightly zealous use of new wood. The palate has an attractive sweet core of fruit, quite plush with pliant tannins, touches of espresso and dark chocolate slightly obscuring the terroir expression on the finish.
