Tasting Notes and Scores
Talented young winemaker, Pierre Duroché joined his father Gilles in 2005 and today he works 8.5ha around Gevrey-Chambertin. His aim is to continue his father’s refined and elegant style of Pinot Noir, and this 2013 certainly does. The wine is from the 0.33ha Les Jeunes Rois parcel planted in the 1950s. It’s very graceful with the focus on fruit purity: a beautiful perfume, fine-grained tannins and delicate minerality on the finish.

The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Jeunes Rois has a strict, slightly leafy bouquet with quite broody, dark berry fruit. The palate is medium-bodied and linear in style, strict and precise with crisp red cherries and fresh strawberry. There is great mineralité here with a long tail on finish. Excellent.

Good medium red. Aromas of red berries, spices and leather, plus a hint of underbrush. Boasts good ripeness and intensity to its juicy, spicy red fruit flavors. A bit tighter and more serious than the Champ but without that wine's early sweetness. This vineyard is very close to the Champ but has more clay and rocks (rather than calcaire and marl). A touch of dryness calls for at least a couple years of patience.
