Tasting Notes and Scores
This is much better, and radically different, than the disappointing cask sample as here the nose is spicy and sexy with exuberant and pure black fruit aromas followed by rich and fairly ripe flavors that offer both velvet and plenty of delineation on the long finish. This is a notably fine villages that displays excellent balance.

The 2002 Vosne-Romanee, a medium to dark ruby-colored wine, was bottled seven days before I visited the winery. Its up-front, gorgeously sweet aromatics reveal raspberries and cherries. On the palate, this softly textured, medium-bodied wine bursts with satiny red fruits as well as hints of cola. It is extroverted yet possesses excellent structure. Drink it over the next 6-7 years. Light ruby. Nose is a bit farmyardy/rustic with cherry and cranberry notes. Fine tannins. Rounded. Good grip. Not as harmonious and focused as Arnoux. More rustic and bullish with moderate length. Very good. Tasted January 2004.
