Tasting Notes and Scores

92-95 ST

Dark red. Musky aromas of wild game and white pepper. Markedly less fruity than the top Côte de Nuits grand crus that preceded it, but boasts outstanding sappy energy and soil-driven salinity. Extremely closed today, with its tight tannic spine showing a slightly raw quality that will require long-term bottle aging. Offers outstanding potential but this is tough going today. "This wine is not compatible with whole-cluster fermentation, as it's already powerful enough," notes Hervet.

Monopole. Dark crimson. Rather charming and broadly fruity on the nose. Lots of pzazz, and relative richness even! This is clearly a special climat. Great reverberant persistence. (JR)

Gently fragrant fruit. But disappointing on the palate for a grand cru – lean and pretty dry. The tannins dominate the fruit and it needs more in the middle to fill out the structure. (JH)
