Unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet red berries, rose petals, orange zest and forest floor, the 2021 Corton Grand Cru Clos des Cortons Faiveley is medium to full-bodied, ample and layered, with a rich core of fruit framed by powdery tannins and a taut, incisive profile.

The 2021 Corton Clos des Cortons Faiveley Grand Cru has a comparatively light and rustic nose with brambly red fruit and rusty piping, just a bit ragged compared to its peers. The palate has a soft red-fruited entry, easygoing with lower acidity, gentle grip and just a modicum of plushness towards the finish. Clearly early drinking in style, but it slips down the throat with ease. Not bad; however, not near the standard promised from cask. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Sweet, jewel-bright nose. Really fills the mouth! A little bit of spice and oodles of charm. Transparent. So different from the old-fashioned burgundy stereotype of density. Pure pleasure already. (JR)
