Tasting Notes and Scores
Sweet spot outstanding. Similar to the nose of the Combe d'Orveau, this is gorgeously complex though the components of it are notably different as here there is more emphasis on earth and a sauvage character to the exceptionally fresh and airy yet deeply pitched aromas. The rich, intense and palate saturating flavors possess excellent volume yet fine detail as well as a driving minerality that is buffered by an abundance of dry extract that imparts a seductive character to the hugely long finish. This is a classic Combe Aux Moines that is perhaps slightly less youthfully austere than usual at this early stage. In a word, terrific. Drink: 2022+

Allen Meadows
Good bright red. Very ripe but reticent aromas of cherry, earth, smoke, coffee and licorice. Very sweet and silky in the mouth, but with lovely lift to the raspberry and sweet oak flavors. Ultimately tight and juicy wine, more mineral than animal in style. The firm, youthfully closed finish shows a lot of wood tannins.
