Wafting from the glass with aromas of red berries and plums mingled with vine smoke, spices and rose petals, the 2021 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru is medium to full-bodied, supple and seamless, with melting tannins, vibrant acids and a giving, perfumed profile that privileges sensuality over power.

The 2021 Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru, traditionally the latest Grand Cru that Faiveley picks, has quite a tertiary, classically-styled "old school" bouquet of dark berry fruit, touches of Earl Grey and forest floor. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, taut and fresh, a little foursquare with a peppery finish that might fool you into thinking there were some whole bunches. Lots of character and charm.

Cask sample. Crackling texture with lots of energy. Fruit is ripe enough. Quite an emphatic impression on the palate. With the depth of Chambertin but more ethereal. And, again, a light note of bitterness on the end. (JR)
