Tasting Notes and Scores

The 2016 Pommard Les Rugiens 1er Cru has a very fragrant bouquet with pure black cherries, raspberry, hints of boysenberry and wild hedgerow aromas. The oak here is beautifully enmeshed. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe and bold tannins. This is an atypically flamboyant Pommard and as such, I find it dispenses with typicity in the mouth, pleasurable but missing the intellectual gravitas that this esteemed vineyard has bestowed on some of its peers. Tasted blind at the 2016 Burgfest tasting.
