Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2015 Romanée-Saint-Vivant Grand Cru has a glossy, high-toned bouquet with more black and blue fruit than red, and moderately defined but not as razor-sharp as its peers. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannin under a lot of toasty new oak that obscures the terroir expression. This is a comparatively ostentatious Grand Cru, although I admire the sorbet-like, liquorish finish. Modern in style, well crafted, though not the best in show. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Deep cherry red with opaque core. Smells just a touch sweeter, richer and riper than the Bressandes. Like the Bressandes, subtle and refined tannin texture, all powder fine and fresh and embryonic. Elegant in the extreme. (JH)
