Tasting Notes and Scores

90-92 ST

Dark, bright red. Pungent red berries and minerals on the nose, along with hints of spices, tobacco and menthol. Plush, sexy redcurrant and tobacco flavors are complemented by a saline quality. The dusty tannins currently show a faint dryness. From the lieu-ditLes Champs Traversins.

The 2014 Echézeaux Grand Cru had just a touch of reduction on the nose, but underneath is some sappy red berry fruit laced with orange rind and red plum. There is a little peach skin developing in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannin, crisp and slightly chalky tannin with a structured and masculine, rather "stubborn" finish.
