The 2020 Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes offers a mixture of red and black fruit laced with blood orange and quince, nicely focused with a sense of energy developing with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit. Fine acidity, just slightly confit-like towards the finish that erodes a little of the precision compared to other cuvées, though there is satisfying length.

Oldest vines date from 1928; average vine age is 40 years. A mixture of clay and sandy soils, sand giving the elegance, clay the power . Tank sample. Mid-cherry hue; ripe, rich red and berry fruit. Raspberries and strawberries. Firm structure. (MH)
