The 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Petits Clos 1er Cru has the most tropical-driven of the mid-slope Chassagnes in this flight, featuring orange pith, passion fruit and mango aromas; this feels comparatively later-picked. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tropical notes of mango, passion fruit and citrus peel. This is a Chassagne-Montrachet that will have wide appeal, but it does need to show more terroir expression. I wonder if there are better examples out there. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting in Savigny-lès-Beaune.
