89-91 NM

The 2019 Côte de Nuits-Villages Retraits comes from massal-selection vines planted in 1923 in Comblanchien. It has a very well-defined bouquet featuring opulent black fruit, licorice and light iris petal aromas. The medium-bodied palate offers sappy black fruit laced with sea salt, good depth and grip and a concentrated finish that lingers in the mouth. Fine length here, but it will require 2–3 years in bottle.
