Tasting Notes and Scores
Another site that saw extensive frost protection, the 2021 Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Combettes is brilliant, unwinding in the glass with aromas of sweet yellow orchard fruit, white flowers, buttery pastry, nutmeg and oyster shell. Full-bodied, satiny and multidimensional, it's layered and concentrated, with racy acids and a long, electric finish.

The 2021 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru is quite introverted on the nose and does not convey much mineralité or terroir expression. The palate is slightly honeyed on the entry with Satsuma and light apricot notes, attractive in a simplistic way. You will drink it and enjoy it but maybe you won't necessarily remember it. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. A big step up from the Meursault Charmes. Very classy Puligny. Concentrated, rich and ripe. Acidity provides the perfect balance to the density of the fruit. They fought a long battle against frost and snow here but the results are excellent. (AWH)
