Tasting Notes and Scores
Good bright medium red. Ethereal aromas of crushed stone, raspberry, red cherry and flowers, plus a touch of smoky minerality. Sweet, sappy and fine-grained, especially for a wine from fruit picked at 12.1% potential alcohol and chaptalized to 12.7%. Boasts wonderful energy and density, not to mention purity of flavor. The long, mineral-driven, saliva-inducing finish offers grip without hardness.

This isn’t quite as ripe as the Echézeaux with a brooding nose that features spiced plum, red raspberry and exotic tea notes. The powerful, concentrated and exceptionally rich broad-shouldered flavors possess plenty of muscle as the dense but fine mouth coating tannins will require all of 12 years to completely resolve even though I suspect that it will be approachable in its youth. I very much like this as it’s a harmonious effort with lovely depth and length. Drink 2025+.
