Tasting Notes and Scores
The supple middle weight flavors retain a fine sense of verve and precision that is also present on the impressively intense backend where the abundant dry extract does an excellent job of buffering the firm tannic spine as well as imparting a seductive texture. This should also drink well young but reward 10 to 12 years of bottle age.
Allen Meadows
(Cheurlin bottled this wine in early June of 2015, along with the Beaux-Monts, Echézeaux and Grands-Echézeaux): Full, dark red. Very reduced nose reveals a touch of leathery rusticity. Sweet and rich in the mouth, even thick for the year, but with saline minerality dominating primary fruit. Slightly dry on the end. Owing to a high percentage of millerandé grapes, this fruit reached full phenolic maturity as well as the highest potential alcohol of these 2013s. Perhaps picked a bit late.
