Tasting Notes and Scores
Good bright, deep red. Rather withdrawn but pure nose hints at dark berries, minerals and a menthol austerity. Tight, pure and imploded, with superb definition of flavor but very introverted today. A note of red licorice gives lift to the middle palate. This very young and extremely promising wine finishes with youthfully tough tannins that call for eight to ten years of patience.

Wine Advocate December, 2009 The Gouges 2006 Nuits-St.-Georges displays a cool yet enveloping fresh red fruit and mint character. Silken textured and buoyant, it picks up notes of pepper and cardamom en route to a soothingly satisfying finish. I imagine this will remain lovely for at least 4-5 years although it is ideal for enjoying sooner. ()
Wine Advocate
An equally earthy dark berry fruit and subtly floral nose merges into rich, supple and mildly rustic medium-bodied flavors that offer excellent depth, wrapped in a structured, firm and serious finish. The structural elements are ripe and while this won't win any prizes for elegance, there is good Nuits character as well as excellent depth.

Sinewy and polished. Hint of coffee. Very chewy end. Just a bit awkward. (JR)
