Ruby-red. Perfumed, expressive aromas of violet and blackberry. Sweet and dense, but penetrating and shapely. Can't quite match the '98 Grivot Vosne-Romanée Suchots for volume or the 98 Grivot Vosne-Romanée Beaumonts for sheer brilliance, but this wine, too, offers superb inner-mouth perfume and lovely balance for the vintage. Finishes firmly but ripely tannic, with very persistent but subtle black fruit and floral flavors.
