Tasting Notes and Scores
Dark red with ruby highlights. Subtle scents of black cherry and dark raspberry complicated by menthol and violet. Juicy, spicy and energetic but a bit youthfully imploded, displaying an almost metallic minerality; aeration brought suppler notes of redcurrant and earth and a sexy spicy sweetness.

The 2016 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Lavières has a clean and pure, more generous and fruit-driven bouquet than the Charmois, with blackcurrant, raspberry and hints of crushed violet. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin, well-judged acidity and an attractive oyster shell note that tinctures that black fruit on the finish. Very fine.

Moderate wood influence still allows the spicy red and dark currant aromas trimmed in warm earth to shine. There is both good volume and concentration to the lightly mineral-inflected middle weight flavors that display a sleek muscularity on the more slightly complex and persistent finale. This is quite firm and serious but even so I would describe it as more Vosne than Nuits in 2016. A quality villages.
