Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2014 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Beaux Monts has a tightly wound bouquet with notes of blackberry, briary and redcurrant jus interwoven with superb mineralité. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry: candied orange peel infusing the vivid red berry fruit with a gentle, but insistent grip on the finish. Whilst not at the level of the 2015, this is an excellent Les Beaux Monts with long ageing potential.

Deep red with ruby highlights. Alluring scents of blueberry, blackberry, minerals, licorice and bitter chocolate; the ripest of these 2014s to this point. Conveys good thickness without weight, with the black fruit, licorice and mineral flavors showing sound acidity and a light touch. Nuances of mint and herbs contribute energy without impinging on the wine's fruit. This juicy, penetrating, dense wine finishes with a firm spine of tannins and excellent energy. Grivot noted that there was a bit of hail here but that "the effect was invisible by harvest time."

Pricing per three bottles!!! A little low key compared with some. A cask-sample thing? Seems an odd anomaly. (JR)
