The 2009 Vosne-Romanee is layered with dark cherries, plums, cinnamon and licorice. It is a fleshy, seductive 2009 village level wine, yet it has also maintained more than enough freshness to drink well for a number of years. There is plenty of depth and texture in the glass. Good full red. Expressive aromas of raspberry, spices, flowers and minerals. Juicy and fruit-driven, with a suggestion of chocolatey ripeness lifted by flowers. Begins rather generous but finishes with good nervosite and suave tannins. An attractive village wine in the making.

A very Vosne nose is both seductive and highly spiced as are the very suave, round and fleshy middle weight flavors that culminate in a detailed, intense and mineral-inflected finish that, despite the richness of the mid-palate, is actually linear in shape at the present. This is really quite a nice villages and worth considering. Drink: 2017+

Tasted out of barrel at the Domaine. This has a lovely rounded sensual bouquet with raspberry coulis and strawberry compote, hints of honey just in the background. The palate is medium-bodied, quite plump for a Village Cru with ripe red cherry and raspberry, but perhaps just missing a little depth on the finish at the moment. Tasted November 2010.

Colour is a little light and evolved. Very interesting scent that is a little subtler than most village Vosnes. Rich but transparent too – so not just sweet. Lots of freshness here. Really appetising but a little worryingly evolved. (JR)
