The 2014 Vosne-Romanée Les Charmes de Mazières has a slightly broody bouquet, with blackberry and raspberry coulis, and just a touch of damp tobacco in the background. The palate is medium-bodied with a velvety opening. There is a pleasing plushness to this wine, the oak simpatico with the fruit, harmonious with a frisson of white pepper lending spice on the finish. It just needs a couple of years in bottle and it should provide 8-10 years of drinking satisfaction.
