Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2015 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras, matured in 40% new oak, has a touch more precision and focus than the Les Charmes this year, perhaps the mineral core more noticeable at this early stage. The palate offers crunchy black fruit on the entry (in fact, texturally you might be duped into thinking there is some stem addition here) with good salinity and body. Like the domaine's other 2015s, it resides on the black side of the fruit spectrum, but with very good salinity and acidity imparting tension and nervosité on the finish. This is simply excellent and it will repay those who cellar for 4-5 years.

Dark medium ruby. Slightly high-toned, soil-driven scents of blackberry, minerals, tropical dark chocolate and espresso. A step up in intensity and inner-mouth lift from the Charmes, displaying excellent density as well as an impression of power. This very rich, fine-grained wine really saturates the palate with dusty, building tannins and builds impressively. Owing to its element of mineral reserve, I'd hold this for at least four or five years.

Rich and lively with lots of pungency and excitement. Well done! Velvety but not too sweet (just). (JR)
