The 2017 Chambolle-Musigny Les Cras 1er Cru, matured in 30% new oak, taken from a one-year-old barrel, feels just a degree overripe on the nose compared to the Les Charmes. The palate is ripe and candied, with sweet black cherries and cassis fruit, quite heady in style, and in my opinion, just missing the elegance and precision of the Les Charmes this year.
