The estate's 2008 Clos de Vougeot is a pretty, layered and open wine laced with dark red fruit, flowers and black pepper. It is a soft, supple 2008, and while undoubtedly very well-made, it lacks the visceral thrill of the very finest wines of the vintage.

Good full red. Musky aromas of small wild red fruits, subtle stoniness and earthy underbrush. Fat, sweet and savory, showing more soil tones today than high-toned fruits and flowers. But this is round for Clos Vougeot-and for 2008. Finishes long and sweet, with plenty of mouthclenching tannins to support mid-term aging.
