Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a clean, precise bouquet with subtle violet aromas infusing the blackberry and cassis fruit. The palate is ripe and sensual on the opening, slightly lower in acidity compared to the other Grand Crus, but undeniably harmonious and velvety-smooth toward the finish. This is a classy, almost understated Charmes-Chambertin. Very fine.

Again, moderate but not invisible wood and menthol suffuse the ripe yet cool aromas of black cherry, violet and earth. The supple, round and caressing middle weight flavors offer good length and a certain class though not nearly the same complexity as the CSJ. In sum, this is prettier than it is deep. Drink: 2028+.
