Morey St Denis Clos des Ormes is an exceptional Premier Cru site that directly abuts Clos de la Roche to the east and is a stones throw south of Charmes Chambertin. The soil here is heavy and rich producing concentrated Morey for ageing. Very perfumed and with great purity, hints of dark cherry and spice – very approachable with wonderfully soft tannins and lovely balance.

Light ruby. A distinctly high-toned nose of red pinot fruit and lovely floral aromas leads to pleasingly detailed middle weight flavors that possess a refined mouth feel. There is good balance and I like the fine-grained tannins but the finish lacks a bit of depth. In sum, this is pretty rather than deep, at least at this point. Drink: 2018+
