Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2015 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Vaucrains 1er Cru has a lovely, multifaceted bouquet of precocious red cherry, raspberry coulis, fig and light, almost gravelly scents. It manages to retain much better definition than some of its peers from the northern sector of the appellation. The palate is well balanced and harmonious, displaying superb grip and tension, and slightly powdery in texture, with a long tail on the finish. This is a noble Nuits Saint-Georges that revels in the precocity of the vintage. Tasted blind at the annual Burgfest tasting.

Sweeter and more intensely fruity than their other cuvées – though quite a steep hike in price too. There is a lovely silky feel to the palate which speaks to its quality, and there’s no doubt this has the fruit intensity to last well. (RH)
