Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2019 Chassagne-Montrachet Les Caillerets 1er Cru is backward on the nose, oyster shells and flint eventually surfacing, the latter becoming more dominant with aeration. This is what you might call a "serious" nose. No mucking about in its presence. The palate is fresh and dictated by its marine elements, lightly spiced though attenuating slightly towards the finish, possibly holding back for something later. Very long aftertaste here. One of Sébastien Caillat’s most cerebral offerings.

From a winery that has spawned a cult . Extremely precise with ripe fruit etched into something resembling a chalky statue, if that makes any sense? Very refined but not austere. (JR)
