There are fully 68 barrels of the 2018 Meursault Village this year, a considerable improvement over the usual 50, and the wine is already very inviting, revealing notes of pear, Meyer lemon, hazelnuts, drawn butter and white flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, supple and succulent, with good cut to balance its mid-palate amplitude, concluding with a flavorful finish.

Includes some Clos de la Baronne. Smells tighter and more lemony than the Clos de la Baronne also shows more oak influence in cedary creamy richness and spice. A touch of ginger here, honey and lemon richness and moderate acidity but all in harmony. Powerful and long. Tasting it again, there’s better freshness than it seemed at first. (JH)
