A noticeable if not really intrusive application of wood sets off the very ripe black fruit nose that is lavishly spiced and complements well the dense, serious and robustly powerful flavors that possess a very firm (but not aggressive) tannic spine that is pushed to the background by the extract-rich and impressively persistent finish. The velvety mouth feel is quite seductive yet the overall impression is one of a muscular wine very much in the vein of a classic Malconsorts. Drink: 2021+
