This is arguably the most aromatically elegant and refined wine among the Leflaive 1ers with its pure aromas of honeysuckle, citrus, pear and white peach. There is good richness and volume to the equally pure, intense and detailed flavors that brim with minerality on the delineated, focused and notably dry finish. This impeccably well-balanced effort should reward at least 10 years of cellar time and is very much a classically styled Pucelles. Highly recommended. Tasted: June 2014

Tasted blind at the Burgundy 2011 horizontal tasting in Beaune. The Puligny-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Pucelles 2011 is rather muted on the nose and remains very reticent. There are light dewy green-apple scents that begin to appear, but it is very stubborn. The palate is crisp and taut on the entry: quite grassy with green apple and kiwi fruit, segueing toward a balanced but tightly wound finish that needs another couple of years to unwind. This is very classy and should age with style.

Bright gold and agreeably fresh and focused after their 1992 Bâtard. Green fruited- streak and very savoury. Juicy, long and complete. This has evolved faster than I expected when tasting it en primeur. (JR)
