Tasting Notes and Scores
Wine Advocate September, 2011
The 2009 Clos Vougeout, on the other hand, impresses with its dazzling purity and elegance. This is possibly the most refined Clos Vougeot I have ever tasted. Sweet red berries, flowers and mint are some of the nuances that radiant from this exceptional wine. The tannins are firm yet beautifully integrated. Focus and length define the impeccable finish. Anticipated maturity: 2019-2039.
Wine Advocate
A wonderfully complex and broad nose displays broad ranging aromas of red berries, warm earth, underbrush, humus and a hint of animale. The big-bodied and almost painfully intense flavors brim with dry extract that lends a highly textured and mouth coating deposit on the driving, austere and stunningly long finish. This too is among the very best examples of Clos de Vougeot that I have ever tasted chez Leroy and this includes comparisons to the astonishing 2002 and 2008 versions. Note however that lots of patience will be required as this is built for the very long haul. Drink: 2034+
