Tasting Notes and Scores
Domaine Leroy's greatest Nuits St.-Georges made in 1988 is the Nuits St.-Georges Les Boudots. The huge, roasted, plummy bouquet suggests sensational extract character and sur maturite. In the mouth, this wine has spectacular depth, richness, and layers of fruit. The acidity is sound, and the balance is virtually perfect. This rich, concentrated, lavishly endowed wine should drink beautifully over the next 15 or so years. The 1988 vintage attests to a remarkably auspicious start for the new Domaine Leroy in Vosne-Romanee.

This is a very seductive debut from Lalou with ripe strawberry, tinned peach, red cherries and blueberry of the rounded nose. Medium-bodied palate, very “correct” on the entry, but undeniably extremely pure on the mid-palate with saturated tannins, a plush texture, more “Vosne” than “Nuits”. Very elegant towards the finish, I actually prefer this to some of her early Richebourg offerings. Still holding up very well. Drink now-2015. Tasted November 2008.
