The 2019 Richebourg Grand Cru has a magnificent nose. Perfumed and utterly seductive, it emanates multi-layered black and red fruit, forest floor, hints of black truffle shavings and crushed stone. The palate is medium-bodied with pure black fruit that disguises the serious structure behind this wine. Gentle but insistently grippy and suffused with mineralité , this fans out wonderfully on the extremely persistent finish. There is a little ostentation derived from the growing season, but the terroir keeps it all in check. Just a little alcoholic on the aftertaste? Très grand Grand Cru. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.
