Tasting Notes and Scores

87-89 ST

(négociant wine; tasted from a new barrel as the used barrels had not yet finished their secondary fermentation): Bright medium red. Musky black raspberry, smoke and minerals on the nose. Then almost shockingly austere in the mid-palate, with a firm edge of rocky minerality currently dominating the wine's underlying berry fruit. The bracing finish features slightly tough tannins, with notes of licorice, mint and fresh herbs giving the aftertaste a slightly raw quality. This cuvée has not been particularly gentle in recent years, Méo admitted.
