(this wine had been racked in September, although Méo noted that it was not reduced this year, which is atypical for this cuvée): Dark red with ruby tones. Sexy perfume of tangy red berries, red licorice, bitter chocolate and fresh herbs. Pungent cranberry and pomegranate flavors are nicely complemented by a note of chocolate. This dense, rather powerful, seriously structured wine conveys an impression of small-berry concentration, finishing with a lightly medicinal note of maraschino cherry. Méo has vinified this wine with 10% whole clusters since 2012 to give it more thrust. The wine's enticing sugar/acid balance and concentration should enable it to age slowly and gracefully.

Notably dark crimson. Attractively perfumed with lots of rich fruit and the tannins well hidden. Relatively charming for this producer. (JR)
