The 2019 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brûlées 1er Cru has a gorgeous bouquet of very perfumed, floral dark berry fruit and crushed violets interlaced with India ink, crushed stone and incense; opulent but very refined. The palate is medium-bodied with cashmere tannins that lend a silky texture. Very harmonious and poised, this seems as if it could be quite accessible in its youth, although I suspect it may tighten up after bottling.

The 2019 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Aux Brûlées is brilliant, bursting with notes of cherries, plums, raw cocoa, exotic spices, blood orange and espresso roast. Full-bodied, layered and perfumed, its satiny attack segues into a deep, concentrated mid-palate and a long, perfumed finish. Seamless and complete, this will be well worth a special effort to seek out.
