Tasting Notes and Scores

The 2022 Vosne-Romanée Les Chaumes 1er Cru is matured in 60% new barrels. Dark berry fruit commingles with light forest floor and graphite aromas, though it unfurls slowly in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins. Very pure. A light Premier Cru, well-balanced and tensile with an elegant, transparent finish. Fine, though not necessarily long-term.

Cask sample. A hint of iodine and something a bit medicinal on the nose. Quite dry on the palate with firm tannins on show. Not the easiest to taste at the moment. Plenty of concentration and structure though. I suspect this will start to emerge from its shell in 2–3 years but you need to wait. (AWH)
