Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2018 Echézeaux Grand Cru has quite a sweet and candied bouquet with red cherries, redcurrant jam, fig and light rose petal scents. A touch of blood orange emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, quite fleshy and ripe, though it does not quite deliver the complexity of its peers on the flattering, slightly confit finish and opts to play it safe. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

Nutty oak, earthy mineral notes, black fruit; quite broad and unfocused. Decent depth of flavour and pretty long, with quite fine tannins, but overall doesn’t really live up to its grand cru tag. (TJ)

Lots of oak showing on the nose, a full style with plenty of flesh and weight. Lacking some freshness as it is all oak and chewy tannins at the moment. (AC)
