Tasting Notes and Scores
The 2017 Mazoyères-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru feels a little tight on the nose at the moment, lacking the precision and terroir expression of the Charmes-Chambertin. Scents of blood orange mix with brown spices, and a little leather emerges with continued aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple, quite saturated tannin. This feels nicely balanced, just a little oak showing through on the finish at the moment, but that will be assimilated.
