Tasting Notes and Scores
Perrot-Minot's 2013 Morey-Saint-Denis La Rue de Vergy is bright, focused and nicely delineated in the glass. Freshly cut flowers, red cherries, stone fruits, mint and slate all pulse with energy and salinity in this high-toned, aromatically expressive Burgundy. Readers will find all of the signatures of the vintage here.

Medium red. Slightly reduced aromas of strawberry, redcurrant, iron and spices, plus a whiff of incipient underbrush. Suave, nicely concentrated red berry flavors show good ripeness for the years, with subtle notes of spices, herbs and flowers providing lift and grip. Finishes with ripe tannins and good aromatic persistence. This broad, sweet wine offers immediate appeal as well as the balance for mid-term aging. Doesn't have quite the definition or thrust for outstanding, though.

Much livelier than the Gevrey 2013 from this domaine, with some delicacy. Pretty and fresh. A composed, rewarding red burgundy with undertow. (JR)
